Where Data Are Collected
The data are maintained locally by each school or corporation in an electronic format. The majority of schools have invested in a Student Information Systems (SIS). Vendors of SIS self report and are not selected or appointed by the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE). Use of spreadsheets or manual entry into an input form is also acceptable. Data files are generated from a SIS or spreadsheets and uploaded to the state database via the STN Application Center.
The STN Application Center is a secure site that requires usernames and passwords. Usernames and passwords are assigned by the local site administrator. The site administrator received their username and password from the IDOE.
Data collected on individual students are protected under the rights of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.
