The Division of School Accreditation, Assistance,
and Awards verifies a school’s compliance with relevant
legal standards by communicating with other certifying agencies,
such as the Indiana State Department of Health, the Fire Prevention
and Building Safety Commission, and the Indiana Professional
Standards Board. We assist schools in determining whether
an agency has verified compliance; however, each school or
district deals directly with the agencies listed above regarding
any specific compliance issues. It is the responsibility of
the school or district to ensure that data are reported accurately
and that documentation is forwarded to the designated agency
in a timely manner.
There are several different ways that a school
or district provides the documentation required to establish
compliance with legal standards. Each agency has its own way
of requesting information. The main methods that agencies
use to communicate with schools or districts regarding legal
standards are:
- IDOE
Event Calendar
- DOE
Data Collection System (K-12 School Data-Submitting Info
Web Page)
- STN
Data Collection System
- Form
may be accessed via IDOE Superintendent’s Mail-check
mail weekly for updated postings
- Direct
contact with school via phone or letter
The following chart contains a listing of all
legal standards that are to be reviewed for accreditation
purposes and the methods used to collect them. Please use
the chart to assure that all standards are submitted in a
timely fashion.
More specific information about each of the legal
standards is located on the pages following the chart. Specific
citations regarding each legal standard are listed as well.
IC stands for Indiana Code, or the actual law that refers
to each legal standard. IAC stands for Indiana Administrative
Code, or the rules approved by the Indiana State Board of
Education as a function of administrating the law.
