Mathematics Transition Guidance

Developed to help educators efficiently compare the Common Core State Standards and the Indiana Academic Standards, the Instructional Guidance documents may be used to refine current curriculum and develop new instructional resources. In all cases, it is imperative that the expectations of ISTEP+ assessments are attended to until the Common Core assessments are fully implemented in 2014-2015.

Instructional Transition Guidance Memo

This memo describes the two-phase process for making the transition to the Common Core State Standards and provides recommendations for beginning this work.

Instructional Transition Guidance Documents

The Instructional Transition Guidance documents summarize the relationship between the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and the Indiana Academic Standards (IAS) in Mathematics. They list all of the CCSS from grades 1-8 and the corresponding IAS indicators. This information is provided to assist teachers and administrators in reviewing and aligning existing curriculum for the transition to the CCSS.

Although there are commonalities between the two sets of standards, it is important to keep in mind that this document describes how CCSS standards correspond to IAS indicators, and in no way guarantees that standards are equivalent expressions or that they represent absolute alignment.
