Requested Data Pertaining to Indiana's Academic Achievement Gap

Indiana continues to be a national leader in education reform. Our state accountability plan was one of only five state plans to receive early federal approval under federal “No Child Left Behind Act of 2001.” Rigorous academic standards are now in place for all subjects and grade levels. A valid and reliable large-scale assessment (ISTEP+) is aligned to those standards. Raising the bar for all students has enabled Indiana schools to begin to close the achievement gap at a rate that exceeds the national average.
