 1994 IPSB decision to move to performance-based system and adoption of INTASC principles as basis for Indiana standards
 1996 Piloting begins on INTASC portfolio assessments for beginning teachers of mathematics and English
 1997 IPSB approves assessment framework for new system (June)
 1998 IPSB enters into memorandum of agreement with Connecticut to pilot additional portfolio assessments for beginning teachers

Piloting begins on INTASC portfolio assessment for beginning teachers of science and Connecticut portfolio assessments for beginning elementary, special education, and social studies teachers

Assessment demonstration sites for beginning teacher induction portfolio assessments in six subject areas (mathematics, English/language arts, science, middle childhood (elementary), exceptional needs (special education), and social studies begun in three regions of the state

 1999 Assessment demonstration sites for beginning teacher induction portfolio assessments in six subject areas expanded to six regions of the state
 2000 New induction and licensing rules promulgated (includes rules for initial, proficient, and accomplished practitioner licenses)
