The Assessment Coordinating Committee (ACC) was charged with the responsibility for overseeing the assessment work of all committees and work groups reporting to it and to make recommendations for next steps at the Board's June 1999 meeting.
For the past four years, members of the ACC and its predecessors (the Continuum Linkage Committee (CLC), CLC II, and Assessment Committee, and work groups and committees: Teacher Education Committee, Proficiency Evaluation Committee (formerly the Test Waiver Committee), Teacher Induction Committee, Continuing Education Committee, Building Level Administrators External Committee, District Administrators External Committee, and the School Services Work Group) have been preparing for the development of an assessment system that will complement the Board's performance-based standards. Attached is a summary of the work and direction thus far approved by the Board.
In June 1998 the Indiana Professional Standards Board approved (1) the continuation of the Teacher Education Committee, the Proficiency Evaluation Committee, the Teacher Induction Committee, and the Continuing Education Committee, and for the continuation of the efforts of the Building Level Administrators External Committee, the District Level Administrators External Committee, and the School Services Work Group which will culminate in specific recommendations from those particular groups in the spring of 1999; (2) the reports approved by the CLC II from its various committees and work groups; and (3) the continuation of the Assessment Coordinating Committee for the oversight of the development of an assessment system to complement the Board's performance-based standards.
Attached are the charges, recommendations, and remaining issues for each committee/work group. Also attached is a summary of the past year's work for each.
ACC Recommendation:
The ACC recommends that the attached documents be received and recommendations approved as the next steps toward a comprehensive assessment system founded on performance-based standards.
