The Comprehensive Standards Document Advisory Group (CSDAG) was called to order by Dave Kinman at 8:35 on April 23, 1999, at the Administrative Service Center of the Metropolitan School District of Washington Township located at 3801 East 79th Street, Indianapolis.
Review and Finalization of Completed April Agenda Items
| I. | The Building Level Administrators
Report was reviewed. Mark Seele made no changes for final edit and
report was approved. |
| II. | Draft Early Childhood (EC): Preschool (developmental and content), draft Early Childhood (EC): Primary (developmental and content), and MC Generalist (developmental and content) models were reviewed and supported. It was agreed that the developmentally appropriate content should be inserted as appendices in their original format with a recommendation that the Standards Committee edit these sections so that they are parallel in structure to the rest of the approved standards. It was suggested that the EC: Preschool
and EC: Primary documents be included in a single document. (Part
I, EC: Preschool; Part II, Additional information, Indiana Professional
Standards Board (IPSB) Generalist Standards for Teachers of Early
Childhood and Middle Childhood that enhance EC: Primary). |
| III. | The Unifying Themes Report was edited and approved pending final revisions. |
| IV. | The Gifted and Talented (GT) Statement was edited and approved. |
| V | Alignment grids were reviewed, discussed, and edited. Advisory group members were assigned content areas for a more detailed review before the May meeting. |
Update on the Web Design
Marie Theobald showed the CSDAG members the draft opening page that has been created for the Comprehensive Standards Document. Suggestions were given, and everyone approved.
Four Themes (Reading, Technology, Diversity, and Exceptional Needs) Report
The Four Themes grids were discussed. It was agreed that a narrative explaining the purpose and rationale of the study should introduce the report and that the themes grids should be included in an appendix as should the alignment grids. It was also agreed that the report would note explicit and implied reference to the four themes.
Early Adolescence (EA) and Adolescence and Young Adulthood (AYA) Developmentally
Appropriate Content
It was agreed that the EA and AYA Developmentally Appropriate Content Documents would follow the same format as the EC and MC Documents.
