 Subject:  Accreditation Delay Request

To Members of the Executive Committee (EC),

Since the last EC meeting, Wabash College has indicated that they will possibly seek NCATE accredition. In order to expediate this process, we have included them in the recommendation below. If you have any objections to doing this, please contact Bet or me by Friday, October 8. Thank you!

Re:   Request for Delay of Accreditation Visits

The National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education, (NCATE), on behalf of Grace College, Tri-State University, and Wabash College, has requested a delay of one to two semesters ( whichever is necessary) in accreditation visits. All institutions will then pursue national/state accreditation rather than state-only accreditation. On September 19, 1999, the Executive Committee approved this request and is now seeking approval of the full Board.

Recommendation:

The Executive Committee recommends that the Board grant the request to delay the accreditation visits for Grace College, Tri-State University, and Wabash College for one to two semesters.
