MEMORANDUM

TO:  Members, Indiana Professional Standards Board
FROM:  The Selection Committee for the Standards Committee
 DATE:  November 17, 1999
 SUBJECT:  Standards Committee Membership

On October 15, 1999, the Board-appointed Selection Committee met to draft the proposed composition for the Standards Committee (SC). Members of the Selection Committee are: Judy Briganti, Lewis Ciminillo, and John Marsteller.

The SC, chaired by a Board member, will be a standing committee and will be responsible for maintaining state-of-the-art standards for Indiana education professionals. Specifically, the SC will be charged with overseeing: 1) the creation of new standards as necessary, 2) the modification of current standards, and 3) the recognition of certificate areas. Detailed processes are in place for these responsibilities, as recommended by the Standards Review Cycle Committee and accepted by the Board September 21, 1999. The ongoing work of the SC will be affected by the work of other committees and work groups, and necessary changes in processes will be made accordingly.

Enclosed is a list of the recommended appointees for the SC. A matrix summarizing recommended appointees' applications is also included.

Selection Committee Recommendation:

The Selection Committee recommends appointment to the S C for: Carolyn Babione, Daniel Grayson, Gertrude Howard, Fay Iorio, Kathy Klawitter, William Rentschler, Michael Rokicki, Phillip VanFossen, and Kevin Walter.
