Subject:	Mentor Standards and Guidelines for Mentor Training Programs

A presentation to allow the Teacher Induction Committee (TIC) to disseminate the Draft Standards for Mentors and Draft Guidelines for Mentor Training Programs was made to the Executive Committee at its meeting on October 20, 1999.

The Executive Committee approved the recommendation that the TIC disseminate the Draft Standards for Mentors and the Draft Guidelines for Mentoring Training Programs with a Questionnaire to a variety of stakeholders to include representatives of colleges and universities, representatives of professional organizations in education, and superintendents. The mailing was sent to the Indiana Professional Standards Board members. It was understood that the feedback from this questionnaire would be used by the TIC to develop recommendations about possible modifications to and uses of the Standards and Guidelines.

It was advised by the Executive Committee that the Questionnaire be revised in a format that will foster expedient responses to encourage quantitative results for feedback analysis. Joe Weaver and Sheridan Rayl collaborated with colleagues for the revision. Anna Lynch, Indiana University, processed the dissemination and will provide a written analysis of the responses received from the Questionnaire for the TIC.
