Subject: Extension of Indiana University Northwest Experimental Program
Indiana University Northwest (IUNW) is operating an IPSB-approved Experimental Program titled the Urban Teacher Education Program (UTEP). UTEP is due for review by the TEC in spring 2000; however, IUNW has requested delay of the review until fall 2000. According to documentation from the Dean at IUNW, UTEP is being incorporated into the regular education program and was recently awarded a Title II grant of approximately $ 1 million over three years.
IUNW is undergoing accreditation visitation by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and IPSB April 15-19, 2000. At that time, UTEP will be reviewed by the onsite Board of Examiners (BOE) team. Given that this BOE review will be taking place, the TEC is in agreement with the IUNW request for delay of review by the TEC until fall 2000.
TEC Recommendation:
The TEC recommends that the Board grant the request from IUNW to delay review of its Experimental Program (UTEP) until fall 2000.
