The Teacher Induction Committee (TIC) of the Indiana Professional Standards Board (IPSB) was convened on November 9, 1999, at 10:30 a.m. in the Curriculum Room of the Administration Center of Washington Township Schools by Steve Yager, Chair.

Region 8 Education Service Center (ESC) Contract Report to IPSB (November 3, 1999) III. Issues/Questions examined as related to the TIC's charge: A. The committee approved the minutes of the September 22, 1999, meeting. A correction was noted to include the attendance of Priscilla Donkle at the meeting. B. The committee was led through a review of the revised draft of the induction statute by Tom Hansen. TIC members offered suggestions for minor revisions. Concerns were identified regarding the support for mentors and beginning teachers in the induction process in its beginning stages until the system has the capacity of trained leadership in place for the new performance-based standards especially in the specific content areas. C. The committee was led through a review of the proposed draft of the induction rules by Tom Hansen. The committee identified several issues that may have already been addressed by the Connecticut State Department of Education. Tom Hansen and Sheridan Rayl were given the task of researching additional information regarding the rationale for time frames of portfolio submission relating to varied school configurations of content specific schedules, accountability issues for support to beginning teachers during induction, mentor support during an extended year of activity in induction, and issues related to the eligibility of a beginning teacher for an extended year in the induction. D. The committee reviewed the Region 8 ESC report and assessed the services rendered for the contractual period from June 1, 1999, to November 3, 1999. E. The committee received a schedule for the following TIC meetings: December 1, 1999; January 20, 2000; March 16, 2000; April 27, 2000; and June 15, 2000.
