Subject: Butler University - Continuing Accreditation at the Initial and Advanced Levels
During January 30 - February 3, 1999, a joint National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE)/Indiana Board of Examiners (BOE) team visited Butler University. The purpose of this visit was to determine the extent to which the professional education unit continued to meet NCATE./state standards at the initial level. A copy of the report was sent to Dr. Geoffrey Bannister, President.
On November 18, 1999, the Unit Accreditation Committee of the Indiana Professional Standards Board (IPSB) met to review the BOE report and Institutional Rejoinder. A recommendation for accreditation at the initial and advanced levels is being submitted to the IPSB Teacher Education Committee (TEC) for consideration. A copy of the IPSB Accreditation Action Recommendation is enclosed.
TEC Recommendation:
The TEC recommends that the IPSB grant accreditation at the initial and advanced levels to the professional education unit at Butler University. The next onsite review will take place in spring 2004.
