Unable to attend: Robert Brower, Denna Renbarger, Lindan Hill, Tom Hunter, Rebecca Libler, and Earl Williams.
The committee opened with a brief review of the previous meeting. Also in attendance was Doug Boherer, representing Educational Testing Services (ETS). Doug Boherer was there to lead the portfolio pilot orientation later in the day.
We briefly reviewed the progress of the committee for Doug Boherer. Then, we asked him to share the purpose and process of the ETS portfolio pilot project in which we are participating.
The committee discussed the Principal-in-Residence position, and agreed to ask for permission to bring that person into the association this summer. We also discussed the possibility of involving individuals from the private sector to help assure effective communications and a smooth transition to the new certification/licensing process. Discussed were possible representatives from: State Chamber of Commerce, State Board of Education, General Assembly, and other associations.
Topics for the May meeting include:
Mapping out a detailed framework for Stage II of the pilots;
Relationship of the Principal-in-Residence to the committee;
Infusion of district administrators into one committee [Possibility of combining this committee with the District Administrators External Committee
Public relations; and
Future composition of the committee.
The next meeting of the committee is Wednesday, May 10, 2000. Everyone should plan to attend the entire meeting.
