Subject: Indiana Wesleyan University - Initial Accreditation at the Advanced Level
During October14 - 18, 1999, a joint National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE)/Indiana Board of Examiners (BOE) team visited Indiana Wesleyan University. The purpose of this revisit was to determine the extent to which the professional education unit initially met NCATE/state standards at the advanced level. A copy of the report was sent to Dr. James Elsberry, Chair, Division of Education. In January, 2000, the Institutional Rejoinder was received, detailing the university's response to the weaknesses.
During its spring 2000 meeting, the Unit Accreditation Board of NCATE decided to grant initial accreditation at the advanced level. The next NCATE visit is scheduled for fall 2002. A copy of the NCATE Accreditation Action Report is attached.
Staff Recommendation:
It is the recommendation of the staff for the Board to grant Indiana Wesleyan University continuing accreditation at the advanced level. The next on-site visit will take place in fall 2002.
