Subject: Saint Joseph's College - Continuing Accreditation at the Initial Level

During September 25 - 29, 1999, a joint National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE)/Indiana Board of Examiners (BOE) team visited Saint Joseph's College. The purpose of this visit was to determine the extent to which the professional education unit continued to meet NCATE/state standards at the initial level. A copy of the report was sent to Dr. Edward Habrowski, Chair, Education Department. In February, 2000, the Institutional Rejoinder was received, detailing the university's response to the weaknesses.

During its spring 2000 meeting, the Unit Accreditation Board of NCATE decided to grant continuing accreditation at the initial level. The next NCATE visit is scheduled for fall 2004. A copy of the NCATE Accreditation Action Report is attached.

Staff Recommendation:

It is the recommendation of the staff for the Board to grant Saint Joseph's College continuing accreditation at the initial level. The next on-site visit will take place in fall 2004.
