RE: Consolidation of External Committees for Administrators

The External Committee for District Administrators and the External Committee for Building Level Administrators have completed assessment frameworks for all administrative licenses. In April of 2000, a Stage I pilot involving approximately 50 district and building administrators working on a portfolio assessment project linked with the Interstate School Leaders Licensure Consortium (ISLLC) and Educational Testing Service (ETS) was launched. The committees request to begin work on a Stage II pilot that would encompass all elements of the two-year induction period. To accomplish this task in the most efficient manner, the Indiana Association of Public School Superintendents (IAPSS) and the Indiana Association of School Principals (IASP) recommend a joint effort for 2000-2001 by consolidating the two external committees into one. The new committee will be called the External Committee for School Leaders.

The composition of this committee would include the following members of both external committees (listed in alphabetic order):

The committee also recommends the following:

The charge of this committee would include the following items associated with a Stage II pilot:

In addition, the committee will address any other relevant issues connected to the Stage II pilot or any other appropriate administrator issues.

Recommendation:

The Indiana Association of Public School Superintendents (IAPSS) and the Indiana Association of School Principals (IASP) recommend a joint effort for 2000-2001 by forming an External Committee for School Leaders. The committee will address a Stage II pilot and other appropriate administrator issues. Membership is listed above, including a facilitator as described above.
