TO: Members, Indiana Professional Standards Board
FROM: Dick Therrien, Chairman
SUBJECT: Request for Continuation of External Committee for School Psychologists
DATE: June 21, 2000
The Indiana Association of School Psychologists (IASP) requests the continuation of the School Psychologists' External Standing committee to the Indiana Professional Standards Board (IPSB) for 2000-2001 academic year. The third annual report for the Indiana Association of School Psychologists (IASP) External Standing committee to the Indiana Professional Standards Board (IPSB) documents the activities of the committee for 1999-2000. The external committee was originally approved on June 19, 1997, by the IPSB to develop the rules and process for issuing endorsements for independent practice to school psychologists. Public Law 153 (1996) mandated that the IPSB issue the independent practice endorsement. The creation of the external committee provided for a collaborative arrangement to implement the endorsement process.
Charge: The IASP External Standing Committee charge is to recommend to the Indiana Professional Standards Board proposed rules, rule changes, and proposed mechanisms to implement these rules as related to regulating the practice of
school psychology in the private sector.
Committee Recommendation:
The committee recommends the Board approve the continuance of the Indiana Association of School Psychologists External Standing committee for the 2000-2001 academic year for the purposes of continuing to develop and implement procedures for the independent practice endorsement in school psychology.
