Re: Proposed Qualifying Scores for Praxis II Specialty Area Tests

As a result of interest expressed at the January Executive Committee and Board meetings, at which time proposed qualifying scores were discussed, staff faxed a request and form for response to thirteen (13) states that have set qualifying scores on some or all of the Praxis II specialty area tests for which staff is recommending qualifying scores. (Please see the green forms included in your testing materials.)

Nine of the thirteen states, all of which use or will use these tests for initial licensing, responded. Three states have no pass/fail data yet; one state misread the inquiry, but has no data yet anyway; and five states volunteered their pass/fail rates. Information obtained through this survey was helpful when considered along with The Standard Setting Final Report and statistical information provided by Educational Testing Service.

The Executive Committee Recommendation: the Executive Committee recommends that the Board approve these qualifying scores and begin the promulgation process for these scores.
