The TIC meeting was convened on September 13, 2000, at 9:00 a.m. in Conference Room 220 at the IPSB offices at 251 East Ohio Street in Indianapolis.

I. Teacher Induction Committee (TIC) Charge for 2000-2001
III. Issues/questions as related to the groups charge:
A. The committee approved the minutes from the June 14, 2000, meeting.
B. Tom Hansen led the committee in a discussion regarding the timeline for the processing of the statute. The issues were centered on the statutes, rules, licenses, portfolios, and scorers. He stated the Draft Induction Statute would go to the legislature in the form of a bill in January.
C. The committee reviewed the purpose of the TIC presentation of the standards-based lesson to the Board. The presentation demonstrates links between student and teacher standards, engagement of learners, growth of new teachers in moving toward standards-based practices, and constructivist mentoring.
D. The committee raised questions about delivery of services for the induction program. Members recognized the capabilities of other groups to provide various services, like large district, professional organizations, or universities. Others need to be welcomed to submit Request for Proposals (RFP) at the end of the contract.
E. Future meeting dates were set for the following: Wednesday, November 1, 2000; Wednesday, December 13, 2000; Wednesday, February 7, 2000; Wednesday, April 11, 2000; and Wednesday, May 16, 2000. **All times are set for 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
F. The committee reviewed a memorandum for including teachers from non-accredited private schools in the new induction program for licensure renewal. Following changes the item will be revisited at the next meeting.
G. The committee reviewed the Region 8 ESC quarterly report and assessed the services of the contractor.
