In an effort to expedite the work of the External Committee for School Counselors, applications were mailed to all individuals on the Bulletin Board mailing list, the Superintendent's mailing, and to various other stakeholder groups on July 10, 2000, with a closing date of August 25, 2000. Indiana Professional Standards Board (IPSB) members were sent a matrix on August 28, 2000, for feedback purposes. A selection team consisting of Dr. Peggy Hines, Mike Horvath, Sue Reynolds, and Shawn Sriver (non-voting) met on September 7, 2000, to recommend appointments (along with alternates) for the External Committee of School Counseling. These recommendations are attached.
In addition to the membership outlined in the IPSB standing external committee policies, the selection committee is recommending the following additions:
- One member to represent school counseling at the central office level. This representative would have oversight of all school counselors in the district and would offer insight unique from the building principal or superintendent.
- On ex-officio member to represent the previous Advisory Group for School Services. This representative would offer valuable understanding of the previous work by this advisory group and their development of the school services standards.
Indiana Counseling Association and Indiana School Counseling Association/Screening Committee Recommendation:
The Indiana Counseling Association and Indiana School Counseling Association recommend that the Indiana Professional Standards Board approve the Selection Committee's recommendations for the membership of the External Committee for School Counseling, including the two additional members and the alternates.
