- The TIC meeting was convened on November 1, 2000, at 9:00 a.m. in Conference Room 220 at the IPSB offices at 251 East Ohio Street in Indianapolis.
- I. Consultations with representatives of education stakeholder groups: None.
- II. Materials reviewed as related to the group's charge:

- B. Mentor Program Submission Format and Process for Dissemination
- C. Induction Program and Portfolio Assessment Eligibility of Beginning Teachers in Non-Accredited Private Schools

III. Issues/questions as related to the group's charge:
A. The committee approved the minutes from the September 13, 2000, meeting.
B.Tom Hansen led the committee in a discussion regarding the Induction Program and Portfolio Assessment Eligibility of Beginning Teachers in Non-Accredited Private Schools. Several options of inclusion were shared with the committee for discussion. Discussion of these options will continue at the next meeting to determine a response.- C.Tom Hansen spoke of the communication of the Induction Program and feedback of the Induction Statute. The committee reviewed two handouts given by Sheridan Rayl concerning the 100-word message regarding the Induction Program. This item was offered for information only.
- D.Sheridan Rayl reviewed the induction timeline in view of the statute, budget, and legislative action.
- E.Sheridan Rayl presented the Mentor Program Submission Format for final approval. One correction was made stating the minimum recommended hours should be 40. The committee determined to set up a pilot stage for submitting and conducting programs. They agreed to meet February 8, 2001, to read and evaluate up to 15 requests for piloting mentor training programs.
- F.Sheridan Rayl read the Continuing Education Committee (CEC) response to a TIC request. The actual statement read as follows:
The committee reviewed a request by the Teacher Induction Committee to increase the maximum amount of allowable Professional Growth Experience points for being a mentor of a beginning teacher. The committee decided to table the request until after it receives and reviews continuing education pilot reports from participating teachers in July 2001. The committee will revisit this request at its first Fall 2001 meeting.- G.The committee reviewed a copy of the Public Law 221-1999.
- H.Future meeting dates were adjusted to the following: Wednesday, December 8, 2000 (9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.); Wednesday, February 7, 2001 (9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.); Thursday, February 8, 2001 (8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.); Wednesday, April 11, 2001 (9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.); and Friday, May 11, 2001 (9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.).
