- Subject: Indiana University Northwest Continuing Accreditation at the Initial and Advanced Levels
- During April 15-19, 2000, a joint National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE)/Indiana Board of Examiners (BOE) team visited Indiana University Northwest. The purpose of this visit was to determine the extent to which the professional education unit continued to meet NCATE/state standards at the initial and advanced levels. A copy of the report was sent to Dr. Stanley Wigle, Dean, Division of Education. The institution then submitted a rejoinder to NCATE, detailing the university's response to the weaknesses.
During its fall 2000 meeting, the Unit Accreditation Board of NCATE decided to grant continuing accreditation at the initial teacher preparation and advanced levels. The next NCATE/IPSB visit is scheduled for spring 2005. A copy of the NCATE Accreditation Action Report is enclosed.- Staff Recommendation:
- It is the recommendation of the staff for the Board to grant Indiana University Northwest continuing accreditation at the initial teacher preparation and advanced levels. The next on-site visit will take place in spring 2005.
