- Re: Proposed Qualifying Scores for Praxis II Specialty Area Tests
- Background: In September 2000, standard setting and validation studies were conducted for five test modules in the Praxis series. When the qualifying scores for these tests are adopted, the tests will replace tests being discontinued by the Educational Testing Service (ETS). The proposed scores are based on the study value minus one standard error of measurement. Attached to this memo are tables which include the projected success rate based on information from Indiana standard-setting activities, and also qualifying score data from other states where the tests currently are in use. The complete report on the standard-setting is available for review on request. National data were provided by ETS.
- Note: Indiana will be one of the first states to implement test 0353 Special Education Core Principles: Content Knowledge. The information provided for this test is based on the experience of ETS with similar tests.
- Recommendation: Staff recommends that the Board approve the proposed qualifying scores and begin the promulgation process for these scores.
