Licensing Advisor Weekly Newsletter
December 1, 2006
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. Below, we have some updates for you. As always, let us know if you have questions.
ASSESSMENT
* Beginning Administrators
The Goal Action Plan for beginning Building Level Administrators has been replaced with the following Individual Development Plan Summary form: http://www.doe.in.gov/dps/licensing/checklists/individual_development_plan.pdf This form is to be submitted as part of the application packet upon completion of IMAP: http://www.doe.in.gov/dps/licensing/checklists/BuildingLevelAdminOnly.pdf
* Beginning Teacher Portfolios
The video requirement of the teaching portfolio may be submitted in either VHS or DVD format.
For further information, contact the Assistant Director of Assessment, Induction and Continuing Education, Debby Williams: dwilliam@doe.in.gov
EDUCATOR PREPARATION
* Middle School Program Review
There will not be a separate program review for Middle School programs which means that Middle School content areas (Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies) will not be reviewed separately from the secondary content areas. For example, the mathematics program will be reviewed for appropriate content coverage across both the Early Adolescent and Adolescent Young Adult developmental levels and treated as one program review.
* Admission of Candidates to Transition to Teaching Programs
Only individuals who do not hold any kind of teaching license may be admitted to a Transition to Teaching program, per the statute and the rule. Licensed educators, therefore, may not be admitted to a Transition to Teaching program for the purpose of adding other areas to their licenses.
For further information, contact the Assistant Director of Preservice Education, Mary Glenn Rinne: mgrinne@doe.in.gov
