Friday Update: March 15, 2003

Board Meeting

The next meeting of the IPSB is scheduled for Wednesday, March 19 in Conference Room C at the Indiana Government Center-South. The discussion session begins at 10:00 am with the business meeting scheduled to begin 15 minutes after the discussion session.

The Executive Committee will meet at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, March 18 in the large conference room at 101 West Ohio, Suite 300.

SLLA Testing

The next testing date for the School Leaders Licensure Assessment (SLLA) is June 28, 2003. Candidates who need to take the test should continue to register even though a testing site appears to be full. Based on registration, Educational Testing Service (ETS) may open another testing site to accommodate those who need to take the test. Candidates should not wait until the closing date to register. Information can be obtained online at www.ets.org/sls.

Rules Promulgation

The following rules have been signed by the Governor and are now in effect:

• 515 IAC 1-4-1 and 1-4-2 Testing
• 515 IAC 5 Substitute Permits

The following rule will go to the Board at the March 19 meeting for approval:

• 515 IAC 7 Continuing Education

Testimony on the following rules will be taken at the public hearing on April 30:

• 515 IAC 8 Teacher Education and Certification Programs
• 515 IAC 9 Teacher Education and Certification General Provisions

Testimony must be in writing and may be presented orally at the public hearing.
