Friday Update: May 16, 2003

 

National Board for Professional Teaching Standards 2003 Subsidies Are you applying to be a candidate for certification by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) in 2003-04? If so, there are a number of $1,150 stipends available for candidates who have not previously been funded. Please contact Penny Patton at licensinghelp@doe.in.gov or 317-234-0214 with your name, area in which you are seeking certification, school contact information, and how you will be mentored through the process by close of business on Thursday, May 22. We anticipate this is the first round of subsidies that will be available to NBPTS candidates.

May Board Meeting The next meeting of the Indiana Professional Standards Board is scheduled for Wednesday, May 21 in Conference Room C at the Indiana Government Center-South. Transition to Teaching will be the topic of the discussion session that begins at 10:00 am. Meeting agendas are available at HERE.

PRAXIS II Standard Setting Panels Volunteers Sought

The IPSB will be evaluating several new Praxis II tests for Middle School licensure, theater and special education. More information for volunteering for these panels can be found on our web site http://www.in.gov/psb/faq_testpanels.html We anticipate that these activities will occur in the fall.

Mentor Training Programs

June 1 is the deadline for submission of new mentor training programs. This deadline was added for new programs that wished to be approved for fall implementation. The next deadline for submission for mentor training program approval will be October 1, 2003.
