NCATE Team Visit Costs
Recently, the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE)
informed colleges and universities of the flat fee for Board of Examiners
(BOE) members. In Indiana, the Indiana Professional Standards Board will
continue to pay expenses for BOE members per the current practice.
Rule 9 Licenses and Permits
At the June 18 meeting, the IPSB approved Rule 9, the requirements
and procedures for the issuance and revocation of various licenses and permits.
The Board added a definition of student teaching as "a supervised pre-service practice
occurring near the end of a candidate's program" to the rule.
The rule now goes to the Office of the Attorney General then to the Office
of the Governor for review. The rule goes into effect when filed in the Office
of the Secretary of State. We will keep you posted on the promulgation process.
Recognition of Board Members
Three members of the IPSB completed their terms of service at the June meeting.
Jane Boultinghouse and Sandra Kelly began their service in 1999. Connie Griffith,
who has served since 1992 as a member of the original board, was recognized
by Governor O'Bannon as a Sagamore of the Wabash. Thanks to all three for
their dedicated service on the board and committees.

Did you know? We searched the archives and found a
license that was issued in January 1919 to Joy Myrick by the Office of the County
Superintendent of Morgan county. "Having presented satisfactory evidence of good moral character
and having been duly examined is found to possess a knowledge which is sufficient
to enable her successfully to teach in the common Schools of the state, Orthography,
Reading, Writing, Arithmetic, Geography, Grammar or Language, Physiology, United
States History, Science of Education, Literature, Music, Drawing, Domestic
Science, Industrial Arts and Agriculture" reads the license. She was tested
on the first ten of those areas and the term (validity) of her license was
based on her test scores. |
