Generalization:  "The Three Little Pigs" has details that demand careful attention in order

            For students to retell the story.

 

Background:  Students have been listening to stories and sharing details about the stories. 

            They have been retelling main events after listening to the teacher read the story

            aloud.  This activity is based on learning style to allow students to show their

            understanding of retelling events of the story.

 

This lesson is tiered in product according to learning style.

 

The teacher will read "The Three Little Pigs" and divide students into three groups.

 

Tier I:  Visual Learners

These students will discuss 4 main events in the story and will choose one event and draw a picture of it.

 

 

Tier II:  Auditory Learners:

These students will discuss 4 events in the story and will prepare a skit of one of these events.

 

 

Tier III:  Kinesthetic Learners:

These students will discuss 4 events in the story and will build the 3 houses with materials in the classroom:  straw, sticks, and bricks (or legos).

 

Assessment:

The products will be assessed according to how well they retell the story.  At the end of the designated time, students will share products.
