Lake Station
Judith M. Price, composition and speech teacher, Edison
Jr.-Sr. High School
I try to reuse many items. For example,
if an article of clothing becomes dull and dingy, I dye
it a darker color. For clothes that may have a stain,
I attach a small appliqué or
creative patch over the stain. I sometimes take the items
I am using as a patch off of an old sweatshirt. I then
cut up the rest of the sweatshirt to use as rags. Paper
bags are cut up and put under my cat’s litter boxes.
I use old, unwanted or broken pieces of jewelry to make
bracelets or pins. Instead of throwing out the last few
drops of shower gel that take forever to drip onto a wash
cloth, I use it as bubble bath by filling the bottle with
water, shaking it, and then putting into the tub. Large
bottles of shampoo are then divided and placed in the smaller,
empty bottles that once contained shower gel.
