Welcome to the Hurricane Katrina Web site. Staff members of the Indiana Department of Education have created this Web site to provide a one stop shop for information for families of evacuees, educators, and citizens, who are involved in some way in trying to help the evacuees of Hurricane Katrina.

We expect you will find the information useful when trying to make decisions and that the site will help answer questions and guide your search for resources.

We can never prepare for every eventuality. Yet I expect this Web site will provide you with valuable information. As more information becomes available, this site will be updated over the coming weeks.

The world will view how we welcome and care for our new neighbors in this time of great crisis. I have no doubt that Indiana educators will be viewed as stepping up to meet the immediate and pressing needs of our new neighbors.
