Indiana Statehood Day

Wednesday, December 11, 2013 (All day)

On December 11, 1816, Indiana was admitted as the 19th state to join the Union. On Wednesday, December 11th, 2013, downtown Indianapolis will come alive with many opportunities for your 4th grade groups to celebrate Indiana’s 197th birthday.

Four different organizations will be hosting Statehood Day activities:

  • Indiana State House Tour Office
  • Indiana State Library
  • Indiana State Museum
  • Indiana Historical Society

All four locations will hold exciting and educational activities for 4th graders and have a formal Statehood Day program including guest speakers from state government as well as the reading of a winning Statehood Day Essay supported by the Indiana Center for the Book. For more information on the essay contest, please visit: www.in.gov/library/statehood.htm

Please contact each agency for information on the specific activities being held at their location and to register to attend Statehood Day. Space is limited, so sign up today!
