Vision and Mission
Vision
The Indiana Charter School Board’s vision is to grow the supply of high-performing charter schools in Indiana.
Mission
The Indiana Charter School Board will authorize and hold accountable a portfolio of high-performing charter schools that provide an education on par with or better than Indiana’s best-performing district schools.
Guiding Principles
Students First. When performing its duties, the ICSB will always assess whether the needs of students are being served in a substantially better way.
Excellence in Leadership. Operating a high-performing charter school requires excellent leadership from school boards and staff. The ICSB will authorize schools that can demonstrate strong leadership at both the school governance and administrative levels.
High Expectations. The ICSB expects charter schools to set high academic achievement expectations and ethical standards for students and staff. Similarly, the ICSB will establish high performance expectations and ethical standards for itself and the schools it authorizes.
Rigorous and Transparent Accountability. The ICSB will hold schools accountable for performance through rigorous and transparent accountability mechanisms. In turn, the ICSB will be held to a high performance bar by the State Board of Education.
