Accreditation and Program Review
New Program Proposal Guidelines
The Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) promotes diversity, imagination and innovation in instructional planning. Therefore, IDOE encourages the development of new programs to prepare professional educators to meet pressing social needs. A unit must assume responsibility for the quality of its programs. New program proposals may be submitted to the Office of Educator Effectiveness and Leadership at any time. Proposals will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. IDOE responses to proposals may take up to 90 days, but every attempt will be made to provide responses earlier when possible. Please refer to the New Program Proposal Assessment Rubric to ensure you are adequately addressing all evidences. Please submit all proposals to firstname.lastname@example.org.
State Program Reviews: Non-SPA Areas
All institutions seeking National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) accreditation must complete a Specialized Professional Association (SPA) program review for all approved programs for which one is available.
All non-SPA programs that were formerly reviewed by the state will be deferred. Institutions with an accreditation visit in 2013 will receive written confirmation that non-SPA programs have continued approval via a deferral from the state.
