Are cash awards from the Excellence in Performance Awards For Teachers grant to be given to teachers for their performance in 2011-2012 or 2012-2013?

This decision should be made locally. School corporations may apply based on the performance evaluation system in place over the course of the 2011-2012 school year. If selected, these corporations may allocate cash awards to teachers for their performance over the 2011-2012 school year. School corporations may also apply based on the performance evaluation system that will be in place over the course of the 2012-2013 school year. If selected, these corporations may allocate cash awards to teachers for their performance over the 2012-2013 school year. School corporations may also apply on other timelines but should specify the timeline within the application.

Winning corporations will be selected based on the quality of the evaluation system described in the application. Applicants should focus on developing, adopting, and implementing evaluation systems that accurately differentiate effectiveness, support, develop, and retain excellent educators, drive student performance, and have a positive impact. Selections will be based entirely on those criteria, and preference will NOT be given based on when applicants propose to distribute cash awards.
