Our contract is already settled and does not include a performance pay system. Are we eligible to receive funding through Excellence in Performance Awards For Teachers grant program?

Applying corporations must have compensation plans in place that allow for effective and highly effective teachers to receive cash awards based on the performance evaluation system described in the application. Relevant contract language from any applicable employment contract or collective bargaining agreement must be included in the application.

Additional questions about contract scenarios should be addressed to the school corporation’s legal counsel. The Indiana Department of Education is not able to review the contracts of all school corporations intending to apply for this grant. The best possible balance between current contract scenarios, the needs of the school, and this grant program needs to be determined at the local level.
