RISE
RISE, Indiana’s model evaluation and development system, was created by Indiana educators. The Indiana Evaluation Cabinet and representatives from The New Teacher Project met over the past two years to develop an evaluation system that is fair, accurate and rigorous. High on the priority list was to develop a system that provides educators with meaningful and specific feedback. The RISE system is is not comprised of checklists or yes/no questions, but rather is a system of domains and indicators that provide clear expectations of teachers and supports a fair and transparent evaluation of effectiveness. As a whole, this system moves educators to a place where they can have meaningful conversations around evidence of student learning. This evidence is captured through observations of teacher practice and the use and analysis of student learning measures.
