Differentiated Accountability
Indiana's Differentiated Accountability Model allows the Indiana Department of Education to provide supports for schools in improvement as determined by Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) by identifying the highest need Title I schools and prioritizing the deployment of resources for assistance. Title I Schools in improvement are rated by need and put into one of two groups: comprehensive or focused. The 50 schools not making AYP for two consecutive years and farthest away from making the AYP target are comprehensive schools. Supports for schools in improvement include school Choice option, Supplemental Educational Services, literacy/math coach, Indiana Reading Academy participation, online professional development modules, reading and math diagnostic tools, State support teams and the Institute for School Leadership Teams.
