Positive Strokes
Steps:
1. This activity would occur near the end of the day or series of days of a workshop, after participants have had a chance to get to know each other to at least some degree.
2. Facilitator divides members into small groups of six to eight.
3. It is even hopeful that this division occur in such a way that members of each group are reasonably familiar with each other.
4. Each member of the group is given a set of name tags or labels. Members of the group should be seated at a table, and groups start with one member.
5. Each member of the group orally names a positive trait of a particular group member in consideration, and then places the label on the person's notebook, or other designated surface.
6. This is repeated around the table until all participants at the table have named at least one positive trait about the person being considered at the time.
7. This person then would have five to seven positive traits listed about him or her. This process is continued until all persons at the table have been dealt with in this way.
8. This is a very effective activity for culminating a workshop.
