Chairman of the Board
Time Allowance: 10-15 Minutes
Equipment Needed: One copy of a six sided figure (Board of Directors Table).
Steps:
1. The facilitator divides the large group into small groups of six to eight.
2. Each member has a copy of the Board of Directors sheet.
3. The facilitator models the activity by listing his own name along one of the lines of the Board of Director's table and then lists the name of people who have had a significant influence on his or her life along the other sides of the table.
4. As this is done, the facilitator will list the quality or the trait that that particular person has that influenced the facilitator's life. For example, the person might list qualities such as humility, honesty, trustworthiness, dependability, etc.
5. After this has been modeled, the facilitator asks each person to complete the activity on his or her own and share the results within his or her group.
Processing Issues:
- How many fisted on your Board of Directors are parents? -- Are teachers?
- How many were of the opposite sex?
- How many were younger? -- Older?
