Rug Cross
Time Allowance: 20-30 Minutes
Equipment Needed: Provide the group with 12" x 12" rug squares (or paper plates) also use a ball, yarn, rope, or chalk fines on the ground to mark out the area within which the activity will take place.
STEPS
1. Each member of the group gets one rug square. The participants may not touch the ground within the designated area. The rug squares cannot touch the ropes outlining the area that is to be crossed.
2. Instruct the group to line up by the order of their birthdays before they begin the trek across the field or yard.
3. Instruct them that they are to cross the area in such a way that they land on the other side in the exact same order as they have just lined up and that in crossing they may only step on the rug squares and the rug squares must never touch each other or the sides of the area during the crossing or the entire group must start all over again.
4. To make the crossing more challenging, one individual can be sighted and the rest of the group blindfolded, or no one can be allowed to speak during the activity, and/or time limit can be placed on the activity.
5. This activity works best with a group of a minimum of five people and a maximum of fifteen.
