EVENT CALENDAR

Touch Blue

Time Allowance: 25 Minutes
Equipment Needed: Balls, rags, papers of different colors and blindfolds for everyone.

Steps

1. Everyone is given a ball or rag of different color. They should observe their own color; then put on the blindfolds. One person should be the leader.

2. The instruction reader then tells the people to spread around the room. (e.g., blue takes five steps to the right, yellow takes four steps backward, etc.)

3. When the people are well spaced out, choose the first of the leaders, (e.g., Person holding the red is instructed to remove his/her blindfold). The appointed leader is given the first task. (touch blue) The appointed leader must then give various people movements commands to put them all in contact with the person holding the blue.

4. The movement instructions are as those of the leader earlier. There are many ways to accomplish the task, some more efficient than others. Two people connected can move together, as per instruction “yellow and blue, move seven steps to the left.”

5. The goal is to get everyone connected to the assigned person in a minimal amount of time.

6. When they are all connected, the instruction reader has the appointed leader put their blindfold back on, then gives the instructions to spread everybody out again. When the people spread, a new leader is appointed, and a new assignment is given for them, as “touch red.”
