Case Review Panel

The Case Review Panel was created by the Indiana General Assembly during the 2000 session of the legislature. P.L. 15-2000 instituted a nine-member panel­with the State Superintendent of Public Instruction or her designee serving as chair - to review the final decisions of the Indiana High School Athletic Association regarding student eligibility for interscholastic athletic competition. A parent or guardian has the right to seek review before the Case Review Panel. The statute requires the Panel to have two athletic directors, two principals, and four parents of students eligible for interscholastic competition, in addition to the State Superintendent or her designee. Its decisions are student-specific and do not serve as precedent. However, such decisions are informative. The Panel conducted its first two reviews on August 31, 2000.
