How to Convert your Initial Practitioner License to a Practitioner License

Administrator Licenses

There are now 2 options to convert your license from the Initial Practitioner (2 year license) to the Practitioner license (5 year license).

Option #1:  * Traditional IMAP Participation
Administrators will submit a copy of their CPR card, ISLSA results, the Individual Development Plan Summary, complete a profile and an application, and pay for the application through LVIS.
Once your account is set up, go to “add application” on the right hand side of your LVIS account. A new screen will open up, pick "Conversion" from the application action. Wait a few seconds while the system finds your license to convert. Then select "Conversion Administrative-Initial Practitioner license".
You will be prompted to download your Moodle report card and Individual development Plan Summary.
Submit and pay for your application through LVIS and then the IDOE will take care of everything else.

Option #2:  *Conversion with a 40 Point Professional Growth Plan (PGP)
The Indiana Mentor and Assessment Program (IMAP) will be optional; alternative to IMAP is completion of a Professional Growth Plan with 40 PGP points.  (511 IAC 14-2-3)  Two years administrative experience still required to convert to a 5-year practitioner license.  (511 IAC 14-3-1)

PGP Information:

Educators attend conferences, workshops, participate in curriculum development committees, participate in school improvement plans, and take coursework to stay up-to-date on the latest educational reforms in addition to their classroom responsibilities. One PGP point is given for every contact hour an educator is actively involved in a professional development activity. A total of 40 PGP points is required for submission. PGP activities must be gained since the issue date of the license being renewed.
If you are currently working in a school setting, your PGP must be verified by your Building Level Administrator, Superintendent, Director or Supervisor. Your Administrator will verify your 40 PGP points through LVIS. Once your PGP has been verified, you may then submit and pay for your renewal application(s) through your LVIS account.
