IMAP Assessment Information for Year Two School Service Personnel

In the past, IMAP Year Two School Service Personnel had to complete a portfolio to satisfy their IMAP requirements. Though the portfolio concept had the best intentions, it was felt by former IMAP School Nurses, Social Workers, School Counselors, Scorers, Mentors, Administrators, Directors, Supervisors and the Indiana Department of Education that the portfolio caused a great deal of stress and anxiety and took a great deal of time and energy from the beginning educator. In addition, the results of the portfolio did not really establish whether new school service personnel were ready for their five-year Proficient Practitioner License.

The assessment tool in the box below will be completed by your Director or Supervisor and is the replacement for the portfolio. Your Director/Supervisor has been observing you on a regular basis and is the best person to ascertain how you have developed as school service personnel.

As the candidate, you are responsible for printing a copy of this assessment and giving it to your Director/Supervisor. You and your Supervisor will meet to determine your developing, progressing and proficient areas for each standard. As Year Two IMAP School Service Personnel, you should be at the ‘proficient’ level for at least five of the seven standards to complete your IMAP requirements. It is recommended that you and your Director go through this document at least once prior to the final evaluation at the end of the year. This will give you a chance to see which areas need improvement before your final evaluation. Please feel free to share this page with your Director/Supervisor so he/she may review his/her responsibilities.

Once you have successfully completed the IMAP assessment (five out of seven standards at the proficient level), your Director/Supervisor will give you an IMAP completion letter. You will submit this letter with your application materials for your five-year proficient Practitioner License.

If your Director/Supervisor has determined you are not ‘proficient’ in at least five out of the seven standards, you can renew your IP license for another two years. You will enroll in IMAP for the next school year and complete your IMAP requirements at that time.
