Tips for Successful Parent Meetings

Include a demonstration by teachers or students’ work at the meeting

Provide transportation for parents that could not attend otherwise

Provide childcare—“No place to leave the children” is the number one reason parents don’t attend meetings

Consider having the meeting during the time of day and/or on the day that parents can attend

Consider having the meeting somewhere other than the school

Provide time for parents to give input and to ask questions

Provide an agenda, topics, speakers, and training requested by parents
