Program Description:

The intended audience for this program is families whose children with disabilities are nearing age three and are in transition from First Steps to public school Early Childhood Special Education Services, Head Start programs, or other options.

This program will help families understand the important activities and timelines in the transition process. The child and familyís transition from First Steps should be a time of collaboration among parents and the staff of the sending and receiving agencies.

Successful transitions begin with people thinking about the future, planning ahead, and working together.

This program was produced by The Child Care Collection at Ball State University through funding from the Indiana State Improvement Grant (IN-SIG), CFDA 84.323A and with the support of the Indiana Department of Education, Division of Exceptional Learners.

We would like to thank the Transition Leadership Committee and the Indiana State Transition Initiative for Young Children and Families for their input and suggestions.
