Program Description:

For our premier episode we visited Ensweiler Academy in the Lake Ridge School Corporation. Ensweiler serves 100 students from Lake Ridge, Griffith Public Schools, School Town of Highland, and School Town of Munster. Ensweiler is a half-day program for high school students and a full-day program for middle school students who fail to thrive in the conventional classroom setting.

Katherine Hedges is the science teacher at Ensweiler Academy. We sat down to talk to her about the successful integration of a project-based science curriculum, particularly as it pertains to their participation in the Indiana Mathematics, Science and Technology Educators Alliance (IMSTEA) Super Mileage Challenge.

In the Educator’s Perspective segment, Middle School teacher, Pam Lewis discusses the advantages of working with community groups to implement the Power Paws Program.
