The fourth episode of Indiana Lawmakers is focused
on K-12 education issues: moving ISTEP testing
dates, full-day kindergarten, improving transition
from high school to college. Joining host Jon
Schwantes in this discussion are:
Suellen Reed, Superintendent of Public Instruction
Sen. Teresa Lubbers (R-Indianapolis)
Dan Clark, Deputy Exec. Dir. of the Indiana State
Teachers Association
Rep. Greg Porter (D-Indianapolis)
Mary Hartnett reports on developments in the
Governor's proposal to lease the Indiana Toll
Road, and a public forum on legislative issues.
Jon Schwantes, a panelist
on Indiana Public Television’s weekly, political round-table
series Indiana Week in Review, will serve as
studio host and moderator for Indiana Lawmakers.
During each weekly installment of Indiana Lawmakers,
Schwantes will expand on timely topics by moderating
in-studio roundtable discussions while publisher
Ed Feigenbaum will offer viewers an insider’s
commentary. WFYI Public Radio’s Mary Hartnett
will file weekly reports from the Statehouse.
An Iowa native, Hartnett
has more than 20 years of broadcast journalism
experience, including 15 years in public radio
news and public affairs programming. Through
the years, Hartnett has served as a newscaster
and public affairs producer for NPR affiliates
in Toledo, Iowa City, and most recently, Chapel
Hill, North Carolina. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s
degrees in journalism and mass communications
from Iowa State University.
