Helping our students—and ourselves—work toward high standards should be at the forefront of continuous school improvement efforts. One way to look at the P.L. 221-1999 is as “one more set of State requirements”. Perhaps a more progressive way to approach the provisions of P.L. 221 is to think about—and focus our actions on—“What’s Best For Kids”. This segment of IPLA Today! will provide some up-to-date information about rules related to accountability and some practical ideas about how to relate continuous school improvement to student achievement of high standards.
